Travis Cram

Dr. Travis Cram directs the Western Debate Union in addition to his role as Assistant Professor for the Department of Communication Studies. Prior to joining Western, he worked with debate programs at the University of Wyoming and the University of Kansas.
 

Dr. Cram is passionate about teaching students the research, advocacy, and argumentation skills necessary to empower students to thrive in democracy. He believes that evidence based debate is a key tool in this process. 
 

Beyond work with the debate program, Dr. Cram teaches courses related to rhetoric and public culture in the context of social movements, citizenship, and the environment. His scholarly research explores issues ranging from American foreign policy to environmental rhetoric.
