Benjamin Hagwood is a seasoned debate coach, public speaking educator, and communications expert with more than two decades of experience coaching champions at every level—from high school impromptu and prepared formats to the highest levels of collegiate policy debate. Known for his creative and engaging approach, Benjamin thrives on building strategies that empower students to take ownership of their advocacy while challenging audiences to think not only about themselves, but about the world they hope to shape.

At the heart of his work is a passion for developing students who succeed in competition, excel in the classroom, and grow into leaders for life. He looks forward to bringing that same excitement, energy, and entertainment to Western Washington, where his commitment to empowering student voices and fostering academically rigorous arguments continues to inspire the next generation of thinkers, advocates, and change-makers.
